Braces are
more than the means to
straighten teeth, they can improve dental health and function, and they can be used to move teeth that are overcrowding. Crowded or crooked teeth are harder to brush and floss and improper cleaning can lead to tooth decay and other dental problems. Braces can correct severe bite problems that would otherwise hamper eating and give a greater risk of
gum disease and tooth and bone loss.
Orthodontic treatment is a way of straightening or moving teeth, to improve the appearance of the teeth and how they work. Orthodontics works by gently pushing teeth into the correct alignment.
The process to
straighten teeth is usually done during the teenage years, when the teeth are going through a period of growth.
However, many adults go through treatment to straighten crooked teeth to approve their appearance. The process to straighten teeth can take much longer in adults and is therefore more expensive.
